8 Things Google Bard can do but ChatGPT cannot

Google Bard is now available to everyone. I have already written a detailed article on Bard explaining how it works and what Bard can do. ChatGPT and Bard use their own Large Language Model to interpret prompts and write content as a human could do. So, people are comparing both AI chatbots. I recently tried Bard and found a few things that are better in Bard. Google Bard and ChatGPT have their own pros and cons. There are some things that ChatGPT can do better and Bard is better in some things. In this detailed article, I will talk about a few things that Bard can do but ChatGPT cannot.

Features of Google Bard that are not in ChatGPT

1. Export results to Gmail and Docs

Google Bard provides responses to your prompt with options to export the response to Google Docs and Gmail. So, you don’t need to copy and paste the content.

If you compose an article or an email, you can export it to Google Docs or Gmail for further editing. If you are asking Bard to write a code, you can export it to Google Colab for further code editing.

This feature makes Bard better than ChatGPT and boosts your productivity. If you use ChatGPT, you need to manually copy and paste content to Google Docs or any other software and then fix the formatting if there are any formatting issues.

2. Access to the Internet

ChatGPT has been trained on the dataset that includes text up to September 2021. It means ChatGPT’s knowledge is limited to 2021 data. It doesn’t know anything thing happened after September 2021. ChatGPT also does not have access to the Internet for learning the latest events. On the other hand, Google Bard has access to the Internet. So, it can provide you with up-to-date information.

3. Provide multiple drafts of its responses

When you ask something in ChatGPT, it provides a response. if you are not satisfied with the response, you can ask it to rewrite the response. On the other hand, Google Bard provides three responses to a prompt. You can check any of these three responses and use them as per your need.

When you get a response, you see a link saying “View other drafts” at the top right corner of the response section. Clicking on it will show you three different drafts Along with a button to regenerate the response. If you are not satisfied with all the drafts, click the Regenerate button to get three new fresh drafts.

4. Image prompts

ChatGPT only tasks text prompts and provide you with results. For now, Bard also takes only text prompts. But Google will soon add image prompts to Bard.

Bard Image Prompts

You will be able to upload an image in the prompt to ask about image objects. Google will use image recognition text to identify objects and provide you with a response. Google is integrating Google Lens to Bard for this feature.

5. Voice prompts

Unlike ChatGPT which only takes text prompts, Google Bard can also take voice input for prompts. You can see the mic icon at the left side of the prompt text box.

Voice prompts

Click on the mic icon. If this is the first time, it will ask for permission for using the microphone. Then it will start listening to you. Say something and it will automatically type in the prompt box.

6. Image in response

ChatGPT only provides you with text responses for anything you ask. On the other hand, Google can also provide images in the response to make things clear and add context to the response.

It automatically adds images whenever it is necessary. Although images in responses are not yet available, they will soon be added along with image prompts.

7. Bard has a host of plugins for everyone

While making Bard publicly available to everyone, Google also announced several plugins including Walmart, Spotify, Khan Academy, Uber Eats, Adobe Firefly, and many more. Although OpenAI also offers similar plugins for ChatGPT, ChatGPT plugins are only accessible to those having a subscription to ChatGPT Plus. Google Bard plugins are available to everyone.

8. Support for Extended Languages

ChatGPT is powerful but it is limited to only more than 26 languages. Although 26 languages are good enough, Google’s Bard covers broader languages to make it useful for more people. Google Bard is getting support for 40+ languages. This increases the scope of the chatBot. Once the feature is available, the multilingual support will surely give Bard an edge over ChatGPT.
