Fire-Boltt has now officially entered the smartphone market. Its new smartphone brand, boltt, has launched the Ace 5G and Evo smartphones in India. So, now we have a much clearer idea of what the company wants to do in a market that is already crowded with established players.

I have already covered Fire-Boltt’s first smartphone plans and the Ace 5G and Evo ahead of the launch, as well as whether entering the smartphone business is a bold expansion or a distracted business strategy. Now that the phones have been officially announced, the more interesting question is what boltt is actually offering and whether these first two devices give the brand a realistic starting point.

So let me first talk about the specs and pricing of these phones. The two smartphones target different price segments, with the Evo aimed at buyers looking for a more affordable option and the Ace 5G positioned as the more capable model.

boltt Ace 5G specifications

The boltt Ace 5G is the more premium of the two new smartphones. It comes with a 6.79-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 600 nits of brightness. The higher refresh rate should make scrolling, animations and supported games feel smoother, while the large screen is aimed at users who consume a lot of videos and other content on their phones.

The phone is powered by the UNISOC T8200 octa-core processor. boltt claims that the phone can achieve an AnTuTu score of more than 547,000. It comes with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while expandable storage is also supported.

The Ace 5G has a 64-megapixel AI primary camera. The camera setup includes AI Portrait Mode and AI Night Mode for portrait and low-light photography. There is an 8-megapixel front camera with Real Tone for selfies. The company says Real Tone is designed to produce more natural-looking skin tones across different users.

The phone also supports NFC, which can be useful for contactless payments and compatible device pairing. It runs Android 16 with a clean, no-bloatware experience.

Google Gemini-powered AI features are integrated into the phone, including Circle to Search and Google Lens. Users can search for information on the screen, identify objects and translate text without leaving the current app.

The Ace 5G has a slim 7.95mm profile.

The Ace 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. It uses a USB Type-C port and comes with an 18W charger in the box.

The boltt Ace 5G is available in three configurations:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage: Rs. 13,999
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: Rs. 14,999
  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage: Rs. 15,999

The Day 1 prices are Rs. 12,999, Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 14,999 respectively.

The 8GB + 128GB variant looks particularly interesting at the Day 1 price of Rs. 14,999. However, the actual value will depend on the phone’s real-world performance, camera quality and software experience.

boltt Evo specifications

The boltt Evo is the more affordable smartphone in the new lineup. It also has a 6.79-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 600 nits of brightness. The phone is powered by the UNISOC T7250 octa-core processor and comes with up to 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The Evo features a 50-megapixel AI primary camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The phone also has an 8-megapixel front camera with Real Tone. The camera software includes AI Portrait Mode, AI Night Mode and AI Selfie Enhancement. These features are designed to improve portraits, low-light photos and selfies through software processing.

The phone also gets Google Gemini-powered AI features, including Circle to Search and Google Lens. Users can search for things on their screen, identify objects and translate text without switching away from what they are doing.

Like the Ace 5G, the Evo has a 6,000mAh battery and runs Android 16. boltt says it offers a clean, no-bloatware Android experience.

The Evo is 7.95mm thick.

boltt Evo price in India

The boltt Evo will be available in two configurations:

  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage: Rs. 10,999
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB storage: Rs. 11,999

The Day 1 prices will be Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 10,999 respectively.

Both smartphones will be available exclusively through Flipkart from September 1 at 12 PM.

The pricing is aggressive, but the competition is tougher

The company has chosen the sub-Rs. 16,000 segment for its first smartphones. That gives it access to a large pool of price-conscious buyers, but it also puts the phones directly against brands that already have strong products, distribution and service networks.

This is also not the easiest time to enter the segment. India’s smartphone shipments declined 10% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, while shipments in the sub-Rs. 15,000 segment fell 45%. Rising memory prices have been one of the major reasons for the pressure on the market.

That creates both a problem and an opportunity for boltt. The problem is obvious. Consumers have become more price-sensitive at exactly the time when smartphone manufacturers are dealing with higher component costs. Several major brands have already increased prices on selected smartphones because of rising memory and chipset costs.

But there is another side to this. If boltt can maintain aggressive pricing while offering the features consumers actually care about, it could get attention from buyers looking for value. The company does not need to beat Samsung, Vivo or Xiaomi across the entire market. It only needs to establish a reason for consumers to consider boltt when buying an affordable phone.

The clean Android approach is one part of the launch that I find particularly interesting. Budget smartphones often come with several pre-installed apps, duplicate applications and additional software that users may not necessarily want. boltt’s promise of a no-bloatware Android 16 experience could therefore be meaningful if the company actually sticks to it.

But this is also where boltt has something to prove. Launching with Android 16 is one thing. Supporting the phones with timely security updates and major Android updates over the next few years is another. A new smartphone brand cannot build long-term trust only through launch specifications. Software support will become increasingly important, especially as buyers start keeping their phones for longer.

Fire-Boltt’s existing presence in consumer electronics gives boltt a starting advantage that many completely new smartphone companies would not have. The company says its ecosystem has more than 4 crore users. That existing recognition could help the new brand get its first audience.

But a smartwatch buyer does not automatically become a smartphone buyer. Smartphones are a much bigger purchase and involve more considerations. Customers care about cameras, performance, software updates, service centres, reliability and resale value. boltt will have to establish credibility in all these areas.

This is why I think the launch should be viewed as the beginning of the experiment rather than proof that the strategy will work.

The Ace 5G and Evo are not trying to reinvent the smartphone. They are trying to put together a familiar set of features at aggressive prices. That is not necessarily a bad strategy.

A 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz display, clean Android 16, AI features and expandable storage give the phones a reasonable feature set. The Ace 5G also adds 5G connectivity and up to 8GB RAM. But these specifications are becoming increasingly common in the affordable smartphone segment. The real differentiation will come from the overall experience.

If boltt can offer good software, reliable hardware, proper after-sales support and regular updates, its Fire-Boltt background could help it build something meaningful.

If it treats the smartphones like another affordable consumer electronics category where specifications and launch pricing are enough, the competition will make things much harder.
