Game Science has released a significant update for Black Myth: Wukong, bringing improvements across graphics, performance, and stability. The update is available now for PlayStation 5, with PC and other platforms set to receive it soon.
On PC, one of the biggest additions is AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4). This new upscaling technology allows Radeon RX 9000 series owners to enjoy higher frame rates and improved visuals. The update also improves the Compatible Mode to give players the option to disable features like ray tracing, frame generation, and super resolution at launch. This is useful for avoiding startup issues on certain systems.

The game’s Global Illumination settings have been upgraded as well. Even the Low preset now looks closer to the High preset, providing better lighting quality across all settings. Game Science has also refreshed the default graphics settings to reflect all the optimizations added since the game’s launch. The studio recommends uninstalling any user mods before updating to prevent potential conflicts.
For PlayStation 5 players, the update brings faster loading times, improved CPU and rendering performance, better motion blur, and reduced input latency in Performance Mode. However, this comes with a catch: the update is massive, requiring a near-complete reinstall for some players. The studio warns that insufficient storage could cause installation failures, suggesting a full redownload if needed.
This update highlights how Game Science is committed to refining both performance and visual fidelity. By combining FSR 4, enhanced lighting, and performance tweaks, players can expect a smoother, more immersive experience, whether they are on console or PC.

The update also arrives as Game Science continues to expand the Black Myth universe. Earlier this year, the studio announced a sequel titled Black Myth: Zhong Kui, which introduces a brand-new protagonist and storyline, signaling that the franchise is just getting started.
