A widespread phishing campaign is targeting Netflix users across 23 countries to steal their Netflix credentials and financial information. Fraudsters tricks victims into believing their Netflix subscription has been suspended due to a failed payment. Then suggest them to visit the Phishing website and enter their credentials.

Bitdefender published a detailed report on how this attack is targeting Netflix users. The report include some of the examples of fake messages asking users to click on links and enter their details.

The phishing campaign spans countries including the United States, Germany, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal, and Australia. While the messages are tailored to each region’s language, the core content remains similar.

Victims receive fraudulent messages claiming their Netflix payment has failed. The message also includes a link to a fake website resembling Netflix. Clicking the link leads to a page requesting the user’s Netflix login details. After logging in, victims are prompted to provide personal information and payment details, including credit card data or gift card codes. If you enter the information, your information will be sent to attackers. This data is then sold on the dark web or used for unauthorized purchases.

It is important for people to learn how to recognize phishing campaign. You need to look closely to the URLs. If the link resembles Netflix’s official website but often have subtle misspellings or random domain extensions, it is fake. Users should also know that Netflix never asks for login credentials, personal details, or payment information via SMS or email.

To protect yourself from such campaigns, you should avoid clicking on links from unknown sources in SMS or emails. If you are concerned about your Netflix account, manually type the official website URL in your browser in place of clicking on links.

If you suspect you have interacted with a phishing link but haven’t entered any information, you are still safe. You can close the browser tab. If you provided your credentials or personal data in a phishing website, you need to update your Netflix password immediately to keep your account safe. Notify your bank or cancel the card to prevent unauthorized transactions.
