Microsoft is now adding AI-powered summaries for search queries. When users will search for something on Bing, it will also add a response generated by AI at the top of search results. The feature is similar to Google’s AI Overview which was introduced back in May this year.
Microsoft says that the feature uses the power of large and small language models to understand the search query and then reviews millions of sources of information to generate the result.
Here’s a demo of how it works
The company is now testing the feature with a small percentage of user queries and will slowly roll it out to more queries and more users.
“We are slowly rolling this out and will take our time, garner feedback, test and learn, and work to create a great experience before making this more broadly available,” says Microsoft.
Unlike Google’s AI overview, Bing’s AI-powered summaries will also have links to the sources used to generate the summary to enhance transparency and credibility. Microsoft also says that the feature won’t impact traffic to publishers. During testing, it maintained the number of clicks to websites. So, web publishers won’t have to worry about their web traffic.
