Instagram has introduced the ability to post short two-second looping videos in Notes. So far, users could only post text and emojis in Notes. With the ability to post videos, users can now be more creative with Notes and spice up their Notes game.

For posting a video note, go to your inbox, tap on your photo in the Notes section, and click the camera button on top of your photo. It will open the camera to record a two-second video. You can choose to add a text before posting the video note.

Since Notes can only be two-second loops, they are not going to replace Instagram Stories. There is another big difference between video Notes and video Stories. You will have to record the content in the app when posting a video Note. You cannot upload a video from your phone’s camera gallery. Instagram Stories offer a longer format, making them better suited for more in-depth and detailed sharing, while video Notes cater to quick, snappy updates.

The update also brings several changes to improve how users can interact with Notes. The update introduces various response options, allowing users to reply with photos, videos, audio messages, stickers, and GIFs. Replies to Notes will now appear as direct messages (DMs).

Meta introduced Notes last year. Today’s update hints that the feature has gained popularity. While most users still prefer Stories and Reels for sharing updates, the addition of video Notes hints that Instagram wants to provide diverse ways for users to share and engage.
