This move seems sudden but is certainly not unexpected. Netflix will begin cracking down on password sharing in India, Indonesia, Croatia, and Kenya starting June 20.

“Starting today, we will send an email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in India,” the company said in a statement.

Netflix will now send an email to users who are sharing Netflix passwords outside their households in India. Netflix says that the account should be used by one household. Now users must set up a Netflix household. All the devices that use the same wifi network will automatically be a part of the users’ Netflix Household.

To set up Netflix Household, you need to open Netflix on your TV. Now open Menu, go to Get Help, and then click Manage Netflix Household. Select Confirm Netflix Household or Update My Netflix Household. Now choose from the Send Email or Send Text option for recurring the verification link. Once you click the verification link, it will set up Netflix Household.

If a user wants to share an account password with someone who doesn’t live in the same household, the company asks to pay an additional fee.
