Google’s UPI-based Payment app Google Pay has now added Aadhaar card-based authentication in India. It will help new users get into Google Pay using the Aadhaar authentication process. Previously, users needed to use a Debit card to create a Google Pay account and add a bank account.

Google says that over 99 percent of the adult population in India have an Aadhaar number and use it at least once a month. So, it will help users quickly enable UPI and signup on the app. Users only need to make sure they have the same phone number on their bank account and Aadhaar.

The process to signup using Aadhaar number is simple. At the bank verification step. Select Aadhaar and enter the first six digits of Aadhaar. It will fetch your linked bank account and will ask you to set the UPI PIN.
