Samsung has unveiled its new 990 Pro NVMe solid state drives with faster speed. Samsung claims that 990 Pro series SSDs offer the highest speeds that are possible from the PCIe 4.0 interface. The company claims that the new SSDs will offer better performance in gaming PCs, Consoles, and 4K and 8K content read/write.

990 Pro SSDs boasts sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s. The random read and write speeds are up to 1,400K and 1,550K input/output operations per second. If we compare it with 980 Pro’s performance, 990 Pro marks around 55 percent improvement over its predecessor. Power efficiency has also been improved by up to 50 percent.

Samsung has also added its Dynamic Thermal Guard tech to keep the temperature of SSD in the optimal range. There is also a version of SSD with a heatsink for better thermal control and RGB lights.

990 Pro Series SSDs start at $179 and come in 1TB and 2TB storage options. There will also be a 4TB version that will be released in 2023. All models are M.2 2280 sized and the company is offering a five-year limited warranty. These SSDs will be available in October.
