NFTs are finally coming to Instagram this week. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Instagram will start testing a way for users to display NFTs on their Instagram profiles. Initially, a limited number of people living in the US will get access to this feature.

“We’re starting building for NFTs, not just in our metaverse and Reality Labs work, but also across our family of apps,” Zuckerberg said in a post on Facebook. “We’re starting to test digital collectibles on Instagram so that creators and collectors can display their NFTs.”

Adam Mosseri, Instagram head, explained how NFTs will work on the platform. Users on Instagram will be able to share NFTs in their feed, Stories, and messages. NFT details will also be added. So, anyone can see details like the creator and owner of the NFTs.

Mosseri also suggested that the platform could also provide a way for creators to make money using NFTs on the platform. So, we can also expect Instagram to add a way to buy and sell NFTs. Creators may also be able to NFTs.

As per the Coindesk report, Meta has been working with Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Flow for the NFT feature. Meta is also considering adding NFTs to its other apps including WhatsApp and Messenger.

Twitter already supports NFTs and allows users to add NFTs as profile pictures. This feature is limited to Twitter’s Blue subscribers. Reddit is also testing NFT profile photos.
