NFTs are coming to Instagram soon, says Zuckerberg

Speaking at SXSW, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that NFTs will soon be coming to Instagram. He didn’t explain how expactly he plans to integrate NFTs into Instagram but gave some hints.

“We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term,” he said. “I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today. But over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.”

This is not the first time when we found out Meta’s interest in NFTs. Last year, Instagram lead Adam Mosseri confirmed they are exploring NFTs. We already know how Meta is interested in expanding its Metaverse. Cryptocurrency and NFTs will surely play an important role in Metaverse.

We saw a surge in popularity of NFTs in 2021 and it seems 2022 will also be the same. Several celebratities have already launched their collection of NFTs. Social media platforms are integrating it. Twitter Blue subscribers can now add NFTs to profile photo. Reddit is also testing NFT profile photos. Now Instagram is exploring different ways to integrate NFTs.
