India already has several OTT platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar, ZEE5, Voot and more. Covid-19 pandemic has also helped OTT platforms in gaining popularity. When theaters were closed, several movies were directly released on OTT platforms. As per reports, India had close to 80 million paid subscribers of OTT platforms by the end of 2021. This number was just 14 Million in 2018. Numbers reveal how fast this market is growing. This could be the reason why SRK took interest in this business. Success of OTT depends on the content.
