Google Photos is getting a set of new features that make the app more than just a place to store and organize photos. The latest update adds new AI-powered tools for finding the best pictures, creating different looks, planning outfits and protecting sensitive information in screenshots.
Google has announced five new features and updates for Photos, giving users more ways to work with the pictures already saved in their library.
Gemini can find your best photos with a prompt
One of the new additions is Photos in Gemini Spark. It lets users use a single prompt to select and improve photos.
For example, if you have pictures from a weekend trip, you can ask the tool to find the best shots, brighten them and prepare them for sharing. Instead of manually going through the entire collection and editing individual images, the feature is designed to handle those steps from a single prompt.

Google Photos is becoming a digital closet
Google is also expanding the Wardrobe feature, which was first announced in June. The feature automatically catalogs clothes that appear in your photos and turns them into a digital closet. You can then use those items to put together outfits and virtually try different looks.
This gives the photo library another use beyond simply finding old pictures. Your existing photos can also become a way to organize and experiment with your wardrobe.

Moods brings a vintage look to photos
For users who prefer the look of older cameras, Google Photos is adding Moods. The feature gives photos a nostalgic, vintage-inspired appearance. While it works somewhat like applying a preset or filter, Google says the effect adapts intelligently to each image rather than applying exactly the same treatment to every photo.
It is aimed at recreating the feel of old point-and-shoot camera photos without requiring users to manually adjust their pictures.
Remix turns ordinary photos into something different
The Remix feature is perhaps the most creative addition in this update. It can transform everyday photos into different styles and formats, including red carpet moments, birthday cards, and photo booth-style pictures.
Instead of simply correcting an existing image, Remix is designed to create a different version of it. This gives users another way to experiment with photos without needing a separate editing app.
Markup gets a useful privacy feature
Google is also improving the Markup tool with features aimed at making screenshots easier and safer to share. A new redact pen can blur sensitive information in an image. This can be useful when sharing screenshots that contain details that should not be publicly visible.
The updated Markup tool also gets thickness controls for more precise sketches and additional fonts for adding text to images.
With these updates, Google Photos is expanding what users can do directly from their photo library. The new tools cover several different use cases, from automatically selecting and editing photos to creating more creative versions of them and hiding sensitive information before sharing.
