Instagram is testing a new feature that lets Instagram users add music to the regular posts they share on feeds. The process is similar to how you do on Stories or Reels. Currently, the company is testing this feature in India, Brazil, and Turkey.

While sharing a regular post on Instagram, there will be an option to add music. Tapping on it will let users browse various audio clips. One can also select the clip duration. After you are done, you can publish the post.

This regular Instagram post will play music once viewed by your follower. If you are sharing a photo with music, it will be shared as a video.

Instagram knows that videos are working better on the platform. Adding music to regular feed posts will also make them interesting.

“With this test, Instagram hopes to give its community a way to add a soundtrack to their Feed photos, like they can with Reels and Stories already. If a user clicks on the song, they will be taken to an audio page that showcases all Feed posts that have used that song,” the company said in a statement.

As I already said, this feature is still in testing with a small number of Instagram’s user base. The company will use the feedback to understand how people are using it. After getting positive feedback, the company will plan to release it globally.
