Micromax to launch a 5G phone layer this year

Micromax has confirmed that the company is now working on an affordable 5G phone for Indian consumers. The company recently made a come back in the Indian market with a new IN series of smartphones.

Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma confirmed 5G phone plans in the latest YouTube Q&A episode of Let’s Talk INdia Ke Liye. He didn’t reveal any detail, so we can only guess. You can watch the episode in the video attached below.

As the phone will be affordable, it could pack an entry-level 5G MediaTek chipset or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC.

He also confirmed that Micromax engineers at its Bengaluru R&D centre are also working on mobile accessories. The company could soon launch Micromax’s first TWS earbuds.

Sharma also talked about Android 11 updates for In Note 1. Micromax IN Note 1 was launched back in November 2020 with Android 10. The phone will receive Android 11 in April.
