Qualcomm has unveiled a new Snapdragon 480 5G Soc for budget phones. This Soc will bring 5G to budge phones in 2021. Snapdragon 480 has an integrated Snapdragon X51 modem that supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz networks.

Snapdragon 480 is built on 8nm processor. It is an octa-core CPU that includes ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz and ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. The Soc comes with Adreno 619 GPU. Qualcomm claims that the new Soc offers 100% improvement in CPU and GPU performance. It will also offer up to 70% improvement in AI performance.

The SoC supports an FHD display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports UFS 2.2 storage and LPDDR4X RAM.

It has Spectra 345 IPS and supports up to 13 megapixels triple camera. The Soc also supports 1080p video recording at 60 fps, 72-P triple video recording @ 30fps and 720p slo-mo recording @ 120 fps.

Along with 5G, it also supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and India’s navIC. It also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ fast charging tech.

Smartphones powered by Snapdragon 480 5G are expected to arrive in Q1, 2021. Oppo and HMD Global have already confirmed to bring smartphones powered by this Soc.
