Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp has updated its Privacy Policy and has made some big changes. Now the app wants you to agree on sharing your WhatsApp data with Facebook for better integration with other Facebook products.

The company has sent a notification to all users stating them the new changes.

Before the new privacy policy, WhatsApp offered users an option to choose not to share their WhatsApp account information with Facebook. But this time, you have to agree on this.

After digging out WhatsApp’s FAQ section, we found out what information WhatsApp shares with other Facebook companies.

“The information we share with the other Facebook Companies. includes your account registration information (such as your phone number), transaction data, service-related information, information on how you interact with others (including businesses) when using our Services, mobile device information, your IP address,” reads FAQ section.

WhatsApp has already made it clear that they collect users’ location information at all times. When it doesn’t get access to GPS location data, it uses IP addresses and other information like phone number area codes to estimate your general location.

You have to agree to these new changes in terms and privacy policy before February 8, 2021. If you don’t, you will lose access to your WhatsApp account.
