Foldable phones are still not the mainstream devices but companies are now trying different kinds of folding mechanisms to attract consumers. Now Oppo has revealed a triple-hinge foldable smartphone concept.

Oppo is collaborating with Japanese design studio nendo to work on this triple-hinge foldable design concept. Here’s the photo of the concept phone.

The phone has three hinges that let the phone get a triple fold. The phone can be slid sideways with just a thumb. Unfolding the entire phone unveils a 7-inch screen. The hinges are covered with Suede leather.

Oppo says that sliding one fold up exposes 40 mm of the display with simple functions that don’t require entire full screen. These functions could be checking call history, notifications and music controls.

The secondary fold resales 80 mm of the screen and fully unfolded phone brings a 7-inch display.

This concept phone is called “slide-phone” and is still just a concept on paper. There is no working prototype and I cannot say when we have a working prototype.

It seems Oppo is working aggressively on unique smartphone concepts. It is set to launch a phone with an under-display selfie camera and a foldable phone. Oppo recently unveiled the Oppo X 2021 rollable concept phone. Now we have a phone concept with a triple-folding mechanism.
