Brave browser is adding end-to-end encrypted video calling

Brave Together

Privacy-focused browser Brave is now adding an end-to-end video-calling service ‘Brave Together’. This service is will offer one-on-one video calls and group video calls directly from the browser.

This video calling service is based on open source video conferencing solution Jitsi.

For group video calls, you can also create four-word meeting links that can’t be easily traced. So, introducers cannot easily hack into your conferences.

Other notable options in Brave Together including screen sharing, video quality controls, text chat, sending an alert by “raising your hand,” and more. All these options make this video calling service worth trying. The only thing one could miss is the option to blur the background.

Brave hasn’t commented on pricing. The company has also not made it clear if the calling service will come with “unlimited” perk or there will be some subscription options. Jitsi doesn’t offer end-to-end encryption for group calls. So, it is still not clear when this will come to Brave Together.

Brave Together will compete against popular calling services such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet.
