TikTok crosses 1 billion downloads mark on Google Play Store

When the majority of the population across the globe is staying at home to avoid coronavirus pandemic spread, they are using social media and entertainment apps for timepass. This push has helped the popular short video app Tiktok in achieving 1 billion downloads milestone on Google Play Store.

TikTok has become one of the most popular apps among teens and is giving tough competition to Instagram and Facebook. The app received reportedly over 115.2 million installs last month. Apple doesn’t release the number of installs on its App Store, but TikTok was fourth among most popular entertainment apps in February. It shows that the app is equally popular among iOS users.

TikTok lets users create lip-syncing videos from 3 to 15 seconds. People use the app as an opportunity to show their creativity. If you see the Instagram explore section, mostly videos you find are made on TikTok.

TikTok’s popularity has also forced Facebook and Google to think about something to beat. Facebook launched Lasso in an attempt to make a TikTok Rival. Google is testing with Tangi and YouTube has also recently started testing YouTube Shorts.
