Facebook’s teen-focused video app “Lasso” is now available for Android and iOS

Lasso

A few days back, we reported about Facebook’s Lip Syncing App “Lasso” to take on TikTok. Now the company has quietly released the app for both iOS and Android platforms.

Lasso lets you create short, fun videos and share them with friends. The app comes with several camera effects, video editing tool, a massive library of music and options to share the videos to your Facebook story on single tap.

The app requires you to log in with either a Facebook or Instagram account. It asks permission to access your profile page, photos, and videos. There is no direct signup option for those who do not want Facebook to link their Facebook or Instagram to Lasso. Of course, Facebook will gather too much data about you from this app as well.

Like the TikTok, the app also lets you know what hashtags are trending and which one might be soon. SO, you can join the trend by creating a video for it.

The app is not yet available globally. I tried downloading it in India, but it is not available here. If you belong to any other country, you can try downloading the app from the links given in the article.

Facebook has a long history of copying apps and features from other popular apps to retain the teens on its platform. TikTok’s growth among teens is excellent and Instagram’s explore section shows mostly the videos created on TikTok. So, the company knew what next it could copy.
