Microsoft Edge

Starting today, Microsoft is rolling out its new Chromium-based Edge browser to all Windows 10 users. So, people who use the Edge browser on a daily basis will see the completely revamped browser after the update.

Microsoft has confirmed that business users will get a chance to block this update and keep using the old Edge browser. Systems that are joined to an Active Directory or Azure Active Directory domain will not be forced to upgrade.

The new Edge is powered by the Chromium engine that is also used in Google Chrome and Opera.

Microsoft announced its pool to switch to the Chromium engine for Edge back in 2018. This decision was made to improve the Edge and make it fast. As per Statcounter, Edge holds just 2.3 percent of the browser market while Chrome is enjoying 63.22%. With the new Chromium Engine, Edge will be a lot like Chrome. It will also support Chrome extensions.
