The upcoming video streaming service from Flipkart will focus on three primary aspects: it’s free, curated and personalized. Flipkart’s service will curate a range of movies, shows, and entertainment series. Customers will not have to pay extra for premium content. The company has also confirmed that they have no plans to venture into original content right now.

There will not be any different app for the new service. Customers will be able to access videos directly from Flipkart app. Flipkart has already rolled out this service among 1% of its customers and will bring to all Flipkart users in next 20 days.

The company aims to take on rivals like Amazon Prime video and MX Player who are quite popular in the country now. Now if you wonder why I didn’t take the name of Netflix as a rival, Flipkart’s streaming service will be free. Amazon Prime Video is the part of Prime subscription and is affordable. But Netflix and Hotstar like services are still not affordable for many. That’s the reason MX Player gained popularity in such a short span of time. So, the primary competitor for Flipkart will be MX Player.

There are so many video-on-demand platforms. You won’t believe but there are 34 companies offering video streaming in India.
