Google officially announced Android 8.0 Oreo

Finally, Google has confirmed the name of recent Android version 8.0. As expected, the Android 8.0 will be called Android Oreo. The name was confirmed during a live stream.

Nabisco owns the name ‘Oreo’ and it is the same company that owns the name ‘Kitkat’. Google already partnered with the company for Android 4.4 Kitkat and now the company has taken the partnership ahead with Oreo.

Android Oreo comes with lots of features including picture-in-picture mode, notification dots, Google Play Protect, fully-redesigned emojis, imits to background overuse of battery by apps, faster boot and instant apps support.

Android 8.0 Oreo’s code will be uploaded to Android Open Source Project today. The software updates for supported Nexus and Pixel devices will be coming soon. If you are enrolled in the Android Beta Program, your device will automatically get the stable build of Android Oreo.

Google has also confirmed that brands including Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, and Sony will either launch new devices or update their supported devices to Android O.
