Today, Google announced a new Backup and Sync tool for Google Drive. It will change the way people keep backup of files on PC or Mac. This tool will be available to users starting June 28.

The upcoming ‘Backup and Sync’ app will replace the current Google Drive uploader client. It will also have integration with desktop Google Photos uploader.

Backup & Sync

The new app will ask users to sign in via Google Account and select folders on their PC to continuously back up to their Google Drive accounts.

It depends on you. You can select your selected folders or entire PC. But make sure you have enough storage on Google Drive. Currently, it offers 15GB of Google Drive storage for free. If you need more, you can always buy more.

Google confirmed that the new app is only for normal consumers. The G Suite customers continue to use Drive for Mac/PC until there is a new enterprise-focused solution, Drive File Stream. Drive File stream will allow users to access huge corporate data sets without taking up the equivalent space on their hard drives.

We are not waiting to see how this new tool will work. Stay tuned for all the latest updates. Do not forget to subscribe.
