On Thursday, Uber and Ola announced their bike taxi services in Bangalore. I am not sure how much customers took the ride, but future of Bike taxi service is in trouble. Karnataka Government has warned Bangalore people not to use these services as it is illegal.

The government said that companies didn’t secure the license from the government to operate the service. So, it is illegal, and the government has already planned to take action against companies.
According to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, enforced in Karnataka, Two-wheeler is a personal vehicle and cannot be used as a taxi for commercial purpose.
Even Ola and Uber confirmed this as a pilot project; they created trouble for them. We are waiting to receive the official response from the spokesperson of companies.
It is worth to note that Ola and Uber started their Bike taxi service to offer a low-cost ride for short trips. Uber is charging Rs. 15 base fare and then Rs. 3 per kilometer while Ola is charging Rs. 30 base fare and then Rs. 2 per kilometer. Both companies are charging Rs. 1 per minute as trip time.
This is not the first time Ola and Uber faced this kind of situation. Many times, they have been blocked in the different part of the country, and drivers were fined for Police. We already know that they will manage to get the solution for this. I hope the government will give them license by changing the Motor Vehicle Act.
