Facebook will notify you if the government is snooping on your account

Facebook will notify you if the government is snooping on your account

Facebook has just announced a very important thing about its platform. Now the social network will inform users if it believes that the account has been compromised by a government agency for snooping purpose.

Below is the snapshot of the snooping notification.

Above message also recommend you to turn on login approvals by using two factor authentications. It will add extra security in your account and will protect your account from unauthorized access.

Facebook didn’t explain how it will check if the account was compromised by attacker suspected of working on behalf of Government.

“It’s important to understand that this warning is not related to any compromise of Facebook’s platform or systems, and that having an account compromised in this manner may indicate that your computer or mobile device has been infected with malware. Ideally, people who see this message should take care to rebuild or replace these systems if possible,” Alex Stamos is the Chief Security Officer at Facebook.

Facebook confirms that this notification does not indicate the whole social networking platform was compromised. It is only related to specific user’s account receiving notification.

I hope you will never receive this notification. But if you are unlucky and get this notification,change your password as soon as possible.
