Twitter acquires Indian mobile platform startup ZipDial

Twitter acquires Indian mobile platform startup ZipDial

ZipdialFinally it is confirmed that Twitter acquired India based mobile platform startup Zipdial. Twitter hopes to make its micro-blogging platform available to more people with this latest acquisition. Amount associated with the deal was not disclosed but it was reported that Twitter has put around $30 – $40 million in this acquisition.

Zipdial builds a mobile platform which allows people to engage with content easily across interfaces.

“We’re very pleased to announce we’ve reached an agreement to acquire ZipDial (@zipdial), a product partner based in Bangalore, India, to make Twitter even more accessible to people around the world,” Twitter announced in blog post.

Twitter has also teamed up with Zipdial in past for offering like sign up with missed calls, follow Indian actors, political parties Twitter account via voice, app and SMS notifications. And now Zipdial is the part of Twitter.

Zipdial was founded back in 2010 by Valerie Wagoner, Sanjay Swamy and Amiya Pathak. Zipdial claims to have more than 500 clients for whom it has done more than 7000 campaigns and generated more than 900 million engagements.

Zipdial’s existing investors include AngelPrime, Sunil Goyal, Mumbai Angels, Blume Ventures,  Jungle Ventures, Unilazer Ventures, and 500 Startups.
