Yahoo India has added a new menu item for shopping in main navigation. Clicking on this link will redirect you to the Flipkart’s subdomain specially created for Yahoo. This store has color scheme similar to Yahoo and can directly be accessed on http://yahoo.store.flipkart.com.

Yahoo India Flipkart

We cannot confirm who approached whom for this association. But it is confirmed that Flipkart will get more traffic from yahoo India. Yahoo India is one of the most visited pages by Indians. Many postpaid data cards redirects users to Yahoo India’s home page after extablishing connection.

Flipkart also has an affliate program. So, we can guess that Yahoo will try to earn good revenue by referring buyers on Flipkart. There may be other kind of assication too which can be on the basis of traffic Yahoo sent or different commission rate.

Although the store is hosted on the subdomain, it is not different to the existing Flipkart portal. Customers can use existing Flipkart account to login and purchase products.

Mausam Bhatt, senior director, online marketing at Flipkart said, “We are always looking for innovative ways of engaging with the customer. Flipkart and Yahoo are both market leaders in their own space – and in a market where people are increasingly consuming content on digital platforms, a partnership like this helps bridge content and commerce to enhance the product discovery and purchase cycle for online shoppers.”

IRCTC also launched similar kind of shopping portal in association with Yebhi.com. But it couldn’t go more than one year.

It is worth to mention that Flipkart has over 26 million registered users and over 8 million daily visits.
