Google is Working On Robots with Android Founder Andy Rubin

If you are excited after watching demo video of Amazon’s delivery drone, Google has something bigger for you. Google is reportedly working on next generation robots. New York times also reported that Google has bought seven different robot companies and placed Android founder Andy Rubin its head. Companies Google bought are Schaft, Industrial Perception, Meka, Redwood Robotics, Bot & Dolly, Autofuss and Holomni.

We have no more details about robots and functions, but Android chief confirmed that this project is big. We can expect these robots to work in manufacturing industry to move, reach, and grab things. These robots may be humanoid robots and robotic arms.

This project is not the part of Google’s futuristic X lab, which does research on driverless cars, Google Glasses and other wearable gadgets. Google robotics group is based in Palo Alto with a research office in Japan. Mr. Austin has already started expanding team with new robotics engineer and programmer for this project.

While Google has not revealed much info, we can expect a bigger innovation this time. Google has long history to surprise the world with innovative projects like Self driving car, Google Glasses, Throat tattoo and many more.
