Carrying a gaming controller with your phone is not always convenient. Most mobile controllers are much larger than the phone itself, which makes them difficult to keep in a pocket. Razer is trying to solve that problem with the new Razer Prio.
Razer Prio a foldable gaming controller designed for iPhone and Android smartphones. It folds down to just 107 x 67 x 23mm and weighs 101 grams. Razer says it is roughly the size of a credit card when folded. A twist-to-open mechanism turns it into a full controller in a single motion.
Despite the compact design, Razer has not cut down the controls. The Prio has analog sticks, a four-way D-pad, face buttons, bumpers, and triggers. It can hold smartphones with displays up to 7 inches, including large phones such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The analog sticks are one of the more interesting parts of the controller. Razer is using capacitive sensing instead of physical contacts. This should reduce mechanical wear and lower the chances of stick drift over time.
There is also no battery to charge. The Prio connects directly to the phone through USB-C and takes its power from the smartphone. Razer says this also helps deliver a low-latency connection.
The controller can work with most slim and medium phone cases, so users should not have to remove their case every time they want to play.
Razer is targeting both regular mobile gaming and game streaming. The Prio works with local games as well as services and apps including Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link and PS Remote Play. It also supports Razer PC Remote Play through the company’s Razer Cortex apps.
A dedicated Razer Cortex Mobile button provides quick access to the game library.
The Prio supports iPhones running iOS 18 or later and Android phones running Android 14 or later.
What makes the Prio interesting is its focus on portability. A traditional mobile controller can make a phone setup feel like another device to carry. Razer’s foldable design takes a different approach. You can keep the controller folded in your pocket and open it only when you want to play.
This could make more sense for people who regularly use cloud gaming or remote play while travelling. It is also aimed at short gaming sessions during commutes, waiting periods or breaks.
Razer has not announced the price or availability of the Prio yet. It is the first product in the company’s new range of ultra-portable mobile gaming controllers.
