Viber Hacked Again, This Time Viber's iTunes App Store Listing

Hackers have modifies the Viber’s App store listing descriptions and changed it to “We created this app to spy on you, PLEASE DOWNLOAD IT!”. The compromised listing is still alive on the App Store.

Earlier this week, Viber’s support page was hacked by Syrian Electronic Army. They defaced the website and added a similar kind of message that Viber is spying on you. So we can assume that the they could be behind this attack too. But, It is unclear whether the App Store hack was also performed by same hackers group of not.

If the attack was performed by same hacker group, there is the possibility that they have also gained access to other subdomains and developer facing functions of Viber.

We have checked the Android and Windows Phone app listing. Those listings are fine. We have also tried to contact Viber officials regarding this hack. But couldn’t get any reply.

If you have any information regarding the attack, share it with us.
