Following the path of Microsoft, Apple, Twitter and Evernote, LinkedIn has enabled the Two-Factor authentication for secure login. For using this feature, users will have to add a mobile device in their account. LinkedIn will send a one time passkey each time user try to login in account. It seems that all web companies are following the same path. Few weeks back, Apple and Twitter rolled out the feature. Last week Evernote enabled two-factor authentication.
“Most internet accounts that become compromised are illegitimately accessed from a new or unknown computer (or device),” LinkedIn explained, “Two-step verification helps address this problem by requiring you to type a numeric code when logging in from an unrecognized device for the first time. This code will be sent to your phone via SMS.”
To enable this feature, go to account settings page in LinkedIn. Then visit account tab and click on Manage security settings option.
Although two-factor authentication helps in improving security, it blocks all third party apps from accessing your account.
