Twitter Shuts Down Tweetdeck For Android and iPhone

Tweetdeck is a popular Twitter client and it was acquired by Twitter back in 2011. Finally, Twitter has decided to limit it and it will soon exists only as a web or desktop app. Twitter is now shutting down the AIR based version if Tweetdeck and removing Android and iPhone apps from stores.

“To continue to offer a great product that addresses your unique needs, we’re going to focus our development efforts on our modern, web-based versions of TweetDeck. To that end, we are discontinuing support for our older apps: TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for Android and TweetDeck for iPhone,” Tweetdeck team announced, “They will be removed from their respective app stores in early May and will stop functioning shortly thereafter. We’ll also discontinue support for our Facebook integration.”

Tweetdeck will also discontinue support for Facebook integration. After this, it will only support for Mac and Windows Apps along with web and chrome apps.

Company explains that apps it is retiring still use version 1 of Twitter API that will retire this month. Most of the mobile users now use Twitter app. The apps have not been updated in a long time. So, the move was expected.

Company did not explain anything about the Facebook integration except a one line note. We will try to get more about this and update you soon.
