Yahoo’s CEO Scott Thompson is trying to do all things he can do to improve Yahoo’s revenue. Few days back he announced to cut some jobs. He had already shut down many services.

Now he has decided to shut down 50 more Yahoo services. He did not mention the name of those services but he said that Yahoo will now focus on its core services such as Mail, Finance, Sports and so on.

“Each of our products and services may individually generate more engagement than most start-ups or even mid-sized companies in certain markets, but that does not mean that we should continue to do everything we currently do,” said Thompson.

Yahoo also plans to make better use of the company’s data and said it would use cookies to personalise news content and provide advertisers with a better understanding of how people use the site.

He want to shut down those services which are not earning much money for Yahoo. This will result in lower revenue but bigger profits.
