Today, Google has officially announced its long rumored cloud-storage service Google Drive. This service will be available with the integration of Google Docs and will allow you to access files from anywhere.
Now Google Docs is available with Google Drive so users can work with others in realtime on any document. You can also tag items stored on your drive. This will help you while searching. You can easily search items with these tags.
Using advanced Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, Google Drive can also recognize text in scanned documents such as images and PDF. That means if you have scanned a page from an old book, for instance, you can search for words in that document.
This service gives 5 GB free space and users can upgrade to 25 GB for less than $2.50 a month. You can choose to upgrade to 25GB for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or 1TB for $49.99/month. When you upgrade to a paid account, your Gmail account storage also expands to 25GB.
Google Drive is available for:
- PC and Mac
- iPhone and iPad (coming soon)
- Android devices
You can check out Google Drive now for yourself at drive.google.com/start. See the video for more details.
