It seems that India will make a record for bringing low cost tablets. After Aakash and Bsnl Penta, a new low cost tablet has been launched in Indian Market. This new tablet is called Daksha. This tablet has been launched in Kerala by Telmoco Development Labs and costs only Rs. 5,399.

This tablet is powered by 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor with 512 MB DDR3 RAM and features a 7 inches capacitive 5 point touch screen. It runs on the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system Android 400 (ICS).

Though the price seems to be high as compared to Aakash and BSNL penta, but specification of this tablet is also very nice.

This new Daksha tablet has a HDMI port, micro SD slot, 3.5 mm audio out, micro USB port and OTG connector for 3G dongle and RJ 45 cable (for connecting wired broadband connection).

Video streaming capabilities of this tablet makes it different from other tablets of similar categories. It has  has dedicated 400 MHz GPU for advanced flash apps, interactive apps and full HD videos. So it is capable of streaming 1080p full HD videos.

Battery backup of this tablet is also powerful and its 3,800 mAh li-Pol battery gives a back up of over six hours with WiFi on.

“Even though the Indian media tablets market witnessed high decibel launches by the world’s leading vendors, the tablet PC market in India is a niche market that is quickly picking up the pace in terms of adoption,” said CR Nijesh, chairman and executive director, Telmoco.

Daksha tablet will get good competition with Micromax FunBook, iBerry and HCL ME Tab which were lanched few weeks back. Price of this tablet os lowest but it comes without any offer while Funbook comes with photon with 1 GB data for free. So it will be nice to see how it will perform in the market.

Initially this tablet will be shipped in schools and colleges and will be available for general public after 15th May.
