Suppose you are at the job interview and the interviewer asked for your Facebook username and password. And this is must step to get the job. I know this seems surprising and you will think what they do with your facebook account to hire you for the job?

But this is true. There are many companies exist which ask for the facebook username and password of their employees. I found a recent incident heppened with the Rob MacLeod who was at the final interview stage for a police job when he was lobbed a question he hadn’t anticipated:

What is your Facebook password?

Macleod do not want to reveal his password so he offered to log into his Facebook account and leave the room. But the interviewer remained wanted the password. After a few minutes, MacLeod gave it to him.

This is not the single case. I have heard many this type of cases where candidates are asked for giving out their Facebook username and password.

And though giving out Facebook login information violates the social network’s terms of service, those terms have no real legal weight.

There is also a same story of Justin Bassett, a statistician in New York. But Bassett refused and withdrew his application, saying he didn’t want to work for a company that would seek such personal information.

He withdrew but other job candidates cannot say no.
