Google has launched a new chat feature on Google+ which allows users to chat with the persons in circles. If you logged in to your Google+ account you will see a pop up notification. Google+ says,”you can chat with anyone in your Circles who also has added you to their Circles.”

Gmail shared a post saying,”+Gmail launched “Chat with Mutual Circles.” Truly, an awesome sign of our uber-connected times. Thank you +Google+ for making it easier to maintain our relationships across other Google products!”

So what does Chat with Mutual Circles in Google+ mean for Gmail?
-When you and your contacts have each other in Circles, you can Chat across Google properties such as Gmail, Google Plus, iGoogle, Orkut, and Google Talk.
-Relationships you had before you started using Chat enabled Circles are preserved and take priority. If you blocked someone in Gmail and then try to add them to a Chat enabled Circle on Google+, the Gmail blocking will still take priority. You’d need to unblock them in Gmail in order to Chat.
-The contacts listed in your chat lists will be the same but the order may be different. In your Google+ Chat list, contacts are displayed from your most recent conversations who are online now, but you’ll still be able to use the search box at the top of the Chat list to find contacts that aren’t showing.

If you want to select the circles in which you want to chat, you can select the circles in privacy policy of the Google+.
