Some months ago, Facebook had announced to all developers to switch on HTTPS connection for applications. Developers also had time till 1 October to implement support for encrypted connections as well as support OAuth 2.0 logins.
Now Company has issued final warning for all developers and asked them to switch over encrypted connection as easy as October 1.
“Many of you have received an email reminder to support OAuth 2.0 and HTTPS by October 1st. To help Canvas and Page Tab App developers more easily update their Secure URLs, we have pushed changes to admin.setAppProperties that let you set your secure_callback_url and secure_page_tab_url programmatically,” Facebook’s Matthew Johnston writes.
Facebook is switching all apps to HTTPS for security reasons. Researchers have found many Facebook apps that ask users’ Facebook password. Few apps are also vulnerable and sensitive information can be leaked by those apps. To avoid these security breaches, company has decided to improve security by forcing all apps to HTTPS connection.
If you are a Facebook app developer, you have only 1 day to switch your app to this secure connection. Otherwise your app will not be accessible from tomorrow.
