Google translate adds 5 more indian language support

Google translate is a great tool when you need to understand something from other language. It is the best translating tool available. Google always tries to improve its efficiency and support. In the series of support addition, Google translate now support for 5 more Indian languages Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.Ashish Venugopal, Research Scientist at Google, wrote,”Beginning today, you can explore the linguistic diversity of the Indian sub-continent with Google Translate, which now supports five new experimental alpha languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. In India and Bangladesh alone, more than 500 million people speak these five languages. Since 2009, we’ve launched a total of 11 alpha languages, bringing the current number of languages supported by Google Translate to 63″

Although there are now 63 languages supported by Google translate but it still support better to English and some other languages which are more important to users.

India is a big country with many local languages. India is second largest country in terms of population with millions of Internet users. For Google, India is a big market. So, It focus on local languages to reach to more users.
