If you think Apple’s iPhone 12 event doesn’t bring anything interesting, you are wrong. Apple launched an interesting tech that has opened a big revenue opportunity for the company. I am talking about Apple’s new wireless charging system ‘MagSafe’. I wrote a detailed article on MagSafe. You should read that to know how this tech works.

MagSafe is not a new charging standard but a device that works on existing Qi wireless charging. Even if it has been launched with iPhone 12, it works with older iPhone models that support wireless charging.

MagSafe works on Qi charging, so, technically it should work with any Android device that supports Qi wireless charging. But MagSafe is not just about wireless charging. It also has a magnetic element that won’t work with other phones because they lack the necessary hardware inside. But charing should work fine.

YouTuber, Kevin The Tech Ninja, made a video demonstrating how the new MagSafe Charger works with older iPhone models and Android phones.

Android Police also tested Apple’s MagSafe charger for charging Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Pixel 5. Both the phones were charging fine. The MagSafe charger works with Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the same way it works with iPhone 12 due to the magnets used in Galaxy Z Fold 2. Magnetic force wasn’t as strong in Pixel 5, but charging was fine.

That means you can use MagSafe to charge Android devices without any issue. MagSafe may not attach strongly to the back of your Android phone, so you need to put your phone on it as you do with other wireless chargers.
