Samsung has expanded its F-series lineup in India with the launch of the Galaxy F17 5G. The phone comes as the successor to last year’s Galaxy F16 5G and brings a few key changes while retaining most of the familiar features. The biggest update is the switch from a MediaTek chipset to Samsung’s in-house Exynos processor, along with a slightly refined design.
The Galaxy F17 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and an Infinity-U notch. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Samsung has also made the phone thinner and lighter compared to the F16 5G. On the back, you will notice a new camera module design that gives it a fresher look.
The phone is powered by the Exynos 1330 processor, which replaces the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC found in the predecessor. It is paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card.
The device runs Android 15 with One UI 7.0 out of the box. Samsung has promised 6 major OS updates and 6 years of security patches.
The Galaxy F17 5G retains the same triple rear camera setup as the F16 5G. It includes a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, there is a 13MP front camera housed inside the notch.
It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and Bottom-ported speakers. The phone also carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.
Connectivity options include 5G SA/NSA across multiple bands, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, Type-C, and GPS.
The phone packs a 5000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. While the battery capacity remains unchanged from last year, the slimmer profile makes the phone more comfortable to hold.
