If you use Dropbox Paper, there is some bad news. Dropbox has confirmed that it will shut down the Paper mobile apps for both Android and iOS on October 9, 2025. The company says it wants to “focus on delivering a consistent, high-quality experience” on the web at paper.dropbox.com.

Dropbox Paper is the company’s collaborative document editor. It lets you create and edit documents in real time, embed media, and manage tasks with your team. The mobile apps were first released in 2016, but Paper never achieved the same level of popularity as Google Docs or Microsoft Word.

After October 9, the Paper apps will be removed from the Play Store and App Store. If you already have one installed, some features will stop working. Dropbox suggests using the web version instead. You will still get notifications about comments, mentions, and edits through email and the main Dropbox app. Sharing documents will continue to work.

The Dropbox Paper desktop app is also shutting down on the same day. This app, which has never left beta, will now be discontinued for good.

Dropbox will send reminders to users about these changes on October 1, 2025.

That is not all. The company is also shutting down Dropbox Passwords on October 28, 2025. This was Dropbox’s password manager service, but like Paper, it failed to build a large user base.
