We all need to share files between phones or from a phone to a PC. Whether it is a photo, a video, or an app, the process should be quick and easy. ShareMe by Xiaomi is a free app made for this purpose. It works without the internet and supports all Android devices. It is also worth noting that the app was previously called Mi Drop and later renamed to ShareMe. Although ShareMe is made by Xiaomi, it works on all Android phones, not just Xiaomi devices. You can install it on Samsung, OnePlus, Realme, Vivo, and others. I tried it myself to see how well it works. Here is my full review with all the features, my thoughts, and the final verdict.

The ShareMe app has a clean and easy-to-understand interface. When you open the app, you will see two main buttons – Send and Receive. The layout is simple, and the icons are large, so anyone can use the app without confusion. The home screen also shows recently shared files and shortcuts to different file types like photos, videos, apps, and documents.
I liked how everything is organized and easy to access. Even first-time users will find it simple to navigate.
One of the best things about ShareMe is that it does not need an internet connection. It uses Wi-Fi Direct, which means it creates a fast connection between devices. During my test, I was able to transfer large files like movies and games within a few minutes. Small files like photos or documents are transferred almost instantly.
I did not face any connection drops or failed transfers. The speed depends on your phone’s hardware, but in general, it is much faster than Bluetooth or cloud uploads.
ShareMe supports almost all file types. You can send:
- Photos and videos
- Music files
- Installed apps (APK files)
- Documents like PDFs and Word files
- Even entire folders
This makes it a complete file-sharing solution.
As I already said, ShareMe app works on all Android phones, not just Xiaomi devices. I tested it with a Motorola phone, and it worked smoothly without any issues. However, ShareMe does not support iOS. So, if you want to transfer files between Android and iPhone, you will need a different app.
One of the biggest advantages is offline sharing. This means you do not need mobile data, Wi-Fi, or any internet connection to use it. This is especially helpful when you are traveling, in a remote area, or do not want to use up your data.
Unlike many other file-sharing apps, ShareMe does not show annoying ads or try to push unnecessary apps. The experience is clean and focused on just file sharing. This is something I really appreciate because it makes the app feel professional.

Share to PC
This feature lets you transfer files between your Android phone and a computer without using a USB cable. Open ShareMe and tap “Connect to computer.” It shows you an FTP address (like ftp://192.168.1.10:2121). Enter this address in your computer’s browser or file manager. You will now see your phone’s storage on your PC. You can download or upload files directly.
I found this feature really useful. It is fast, wireless, and works even if you do not have a USB cable. Great for backing up files or transferring documents to a laptop. Also, it does not need any extra software on the PC.
Web Share
Web Share lets you send files to another phone or device through a web browser, even if the other device does not have the ShareMe app installed. Tap Web Share in ShareMe and select the files you want to send. The app will create a local hotspot or Wi-Fi connection. It then shows the WiFi name and password for connecting to it. Once you connect to the WiFi, you are provided with a web URL for entering to the browser for downloading the file. Alternatively, you can also scan the QR code to download the file.
This is a smart feature. You can share files with any device that has a browser—laptop, iPhone, iPad, or another Android. It is perfect when someone does not want to install an app just to receive a few files. Also, it works offline.
Additional Features
- QR Code Connection: You can connect two phones quickly using a QR code scan.
- File History: The app keeps a log of all the files you sent or received.
- Dark Mode: There is a dark theme for those who prefer it.
- Multi-file transfer: You can select and send many files at once, even from different folders.
All these small features make ShareMe more polished and user-friendly.
Final Verdict
The ShareMe app is one of the best file-sharing apps available for Android. It is fast, free, and easy to use. It supports all major file types, works across brands, and does not require the internet. The clean interface and lack of ads make it even better. With features like Web Share and Share to PC, yo get multiple ways to move files, whether you are sharing with a friend, backing up data, or working between devices.
