Four years after its original announcement, The Lost Wild has finally resurfaced with a new trailer and a confirmed release window. Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Great Ape Games have announced that the dinosaur survival horror game will launch for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2027.

The game was first revealed in 2022 and quickly attracted attention for its unique take on the dinosaur genre. However, updates became scarce over the following years, leaving many fans wondering about the project’s future. The title made its long-awaited return during Sony’s latest State of Play presentation this week.

Alongside the new trailer, the developers shared fresh details about the project and confirmed that development is progressing toward a 2027 release.

According to Great Ape Games CEO Nick Gregory, the studio has spent years refining its vision for a dinosaur-focused horror experience. He described the game as a “love letter” to the genre, built around intelligent predators rather than traditional movie-style monsters.

Unlike many dinosaur games that focus heavily on combat, The Lost Wild is designed around survival and evasion. Players will explore abandoned research facilities on a remote island while avoiding prehistoric creatures that actively hunt them. The dinosaurs are intended to behave like wild animals, forcing players to observe their patterns and use stealth to stay alive.

The game follows a character named Saskia, who wakes up on an island overrun by dinosaurs. As she investigates the abandoned facilities scattered across the jungle, players will rely on distractions, environmental tools, and non-lethal equipment to escape dangerous encounters.
