Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be getting new PlayStation versions. The ports are being developed by Treyarch and Iron Galaxy.
The companies have confirmed the release but have not revealed the exact PlayStation platforms yet. It is currently unclear whether the games will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or both.
The original Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC. Call of Duty: Black Ops II followed in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, with a Wii U version arriving shortly after.
While both games remain playable on modern Xbox consoles through backward compatibility and are still available on PC through Steam, PlayStation players have not had a way to play them on newer PlayStation consoles. The original PlayStation 3 versions are not compatible with PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
The newly announced PlayStation ports will include all three major modes from the original games, including Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.
Activision has not yet announced release dates, pricing, or additional details. More information is expected to be shared in the coming months.
