NVIDIA has released a new Game Ready WHQL graphics driver version 596.49. The latest driver adds optimizations and DLSS support for Forza Horizon 6, Directive 8020, and Subnautica 2.

Forza Horizon 6 enters early access on May 15, while the full global launch is scheduled for May 19. The game will be available on Steam, Microsoft Store, Game Pass, and GeForce NOW.

According to NVIDIA, RTX 50 Series GPUs can deliver very high frame rates in the game when DLSS 4.5 Multi-Frame Generation is enabled. The company claims the GeForce RTX 5090 can achieve up to 337 FPS in 4K resolution, 414 FPS at 1440p, and 493 FPS at 1080p.

NVIDIA has not shared native performance numbers without frame generation enabled.

Interestingly, Forza Horizon 6 was recently part of a major Steam leak ahead of launch. Reports claimed an unencrypted build of the game briefly became accessible through Steam, allowing files and gameplay footage to spread online before release. The incident quickly gained attention across gaming communities and social media platforms.

The game is expected to continue the franchise’s popular arcade-style open-world racing gameplay. Players can expect a large open map, dynamic weather systems, online multiplayer events, exploration, car customization, and high-speed racing across different environments.

Unlike hardcore simulation racing games, the Forza Horizon series focuses more on fun and accessibility while still offering realistic visuals and driving physics.

Gamers who enjoy titles like Forza Horizon 5, Need for Speed Unbound, The Crew Motorfest, and Gran Turismo 7 may find Forza Horizon 6 especially interesting.

Apart from game support, NVIDIA driver 596.49 also fixes a few bugs. The update improves smoothness when DLSS Frame Generation is used together with V-SYNC and fixes viewport flickering issues in Foundry Mari 7.0v2.

The new driver supports 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Compatible GPUs include GeForce RTX 50 Series, RTX 40 Series, RTX 30 Series, RTX 20 Series, GeForce GTX 16 Series, and TITAN RTX graphics cards.

NVIDIA has also recently ended Game Ready driver support for older GTX 10 Series and GTX 900 Series graphics cards. These GPUs will now only receive security-related updates going forward.
