Microsoft has decided to retire its Gaming Copilot AI features for Xbox. The update was shared by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who confirmed that the company will begin winding down the AI assistant across Xbox platforms.

Gaming Copilot was first introduced in September 2025 after months of insider testing. It was designed to help players during gameplay by offering tips, guidance, and information about what they were playing. The feature was part of Microsoft’s broader push to bring its Copilot AI into different products.

However, things have now changed. Sharma said that Xbox needs to move faster, improve its connection with the gaming community, and remove friction for both players and developers. As part of this new direction, the company has decided to drop features that do not align with its future plans.

This means Copilot on the Xbox mobile app will be phased out, and development of the console version has been stopped completely. This is a big shift, especially since Microsoft has been actively expanding Copilot across Windows and other services.

Interestingly, the Copilot feature available through the Xbox Game Bar on Windows has not been mentioned in this decision. That version is still in beta and can be disabled manually. It is not clear if Microsoft will continue supporting it or remove it later.
