Motorola is reportedly preparing to enter the book-style foldable smartphone market for the first time. The device is expected to be called the Motorola Razr Fold and could launch sometime in 2026.
So far, Motorola has focused only on clamshell foldables, starting from the original Razr to the latest Razr 60 Ultra. With the Razr Fold, the company appears ready to challenge Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup and enter a much more competitive segment.
The information comes from leaked promotional material shared by tipster Evan Blass. The image mentions the Razr Fold by name and suggests that the phone is planned for release later this year.

The leaked material does not reveal full specifications, but it highlights three main areas. Motorola is teasing high-quality displays, new AI-based features, and an advanced camera system. These claims suggest the Razr Fold will be positioned as a premium device rather than an experimental product.
Motorola is currently preparing for its Signature launch event scheduled for January 6, 2026. While a full Razr Fold launch at the event seems unlikely, the company could use the stage to preview the device or offer an early look. The marketing text also supports this idea by stating that more information will arrive later.
The book-style foldable market is currently dominated by Samsung, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 setting a high standard. Motorola will need to deliver strong hardware, competitive pricing, and a refined design to stand out. Still, its entry could bring more competition and choice for buyers.
The timing is also interesting. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 later in 2026, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone is also rumored to arrive around the same time. This means the foldable market is likely to become much more crowded.
